April Ross
April Ross is one of the few female beach volleyball athletes who have won medals in more than one Olympics. In Tokyo during the next few days she will attempt to win her third gold medal alongside the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross also hopes to get her very first Olympic medal. The next time she has the chance to do so at the age of 39. But she's still certain of taking top honors. Ross was reported in NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your highest, and even play well we will get the gold. So I'm going to take some luck also. Ross was born in California in Costa Mesa in 1982. She grew up in Costa Mesa with her mother, father and sibling. Along with participating in a variety of sports, Ross was also a student at Newport Harbor High School. In her time as a college athlete she played indoor volleyball and track. Though she excelled when playing indoors but it was apparent that her performance was above the average. According to her bio her high school days, she was a volleyball player as an outside setter (middle blocker) and setting (outside blocker). She was named by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the Year in 1999, for her performance. The skills she showed in volleyball also won her an Orange County Athlete of the Awards in 2000. Ross and Klineman are doing what they do since 2017. However, Ross was an important player on the beach volleyball circuit before the pairing. It's true that she has won numerous events, one of which was with the legendary player of volleyball. In the period 2007 until 2013, she was a team with Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Kessy was Ross's co-coach at the World Championships in 2009. They won a Silver Medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. They were knocked out of the gold by the legendary group comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she announced her retirement. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross participated in the Trojans at USC during her the college years following her graduation from in high school. Her experience at USC was awe-inspiring. She was a All-American and Pac-10 freshman of the year in the year 2000, a young freshman. The Trojans had the chance to reach the Final Four with her help. In her sophomore year, she suffered a tremendous personal setback, but she was able to repeat as an All-American. Over the course of her final two seasons, she took the Trojans to the top of the mountain and took home consecutive national championships. As an individual, she cemented her place as a legend by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award is given to the best female college volleyball players across the country. Ross played international relations as a major at USC. Margie Ross did not see her daughter achieve the heights in beach volleyball. Ross's mom passed away due to breast cancer when she was in her sophomore year at USC. She continues to hold her lost parent near and dear. Margie is a constant source of inspiration to her both on and off the beach.
